Dear 2CV Friends,
As part of your 25th World Meeting experience, we’re excited to have you join three beautiful day trips from Postojna into some of Slovenia’s most charming and scenic regions. These self-drive excursions are designed with your oldie Citroën in mind – relaxed and picturesque.
To make the most of the trips and avoid traffic, we recommend checking road conditions in advance.
🎒 What to bring: Comfortable shoes, swimwear, towel, enough water for the drive, and good vibes!

Below you’ll find final details, meeting times, and suggested routes for each trip.
IDRIJA DAY TRIP
📅 Date: Wednesday, 30 July 2025

📝 Itinerary:
09:45–10:00 – Arrival at Idrija town square
10:00–11:00 – Welcome snack, traditional lace-making demo, and a guided walk through the charming old town
11:00–13:00 – Tour of the historic mercury mine shaft – step underground and experience Idrija’s UNESCO heritage up close
13:30–14:00 – Scenic drive to Idrijska Bela
14:00–14:45 – Lunch with traditional Idrijski žlikrofi, a local culinary specialty
14:45–15:45 – Free time: enjoy a refreshing swim in the Idrijca river or just relax in nature
15:45–17:00 – Drive to Zadlog for a tasting of local dairy delicacies
PIRAN DAY TRIP
📅 Date: Thursday, 31 July 2025
🕘 Suggested Departure from Postojna: 9:00 AM
To avoid summer traffic and the need for a motorway vignette, we strongly recommend taking regional roads instead of the highway. Be sure to bring enough water for the drive and stay hydrated throughout the day, as warm weather is expected.

PLEASE NOTE that the parking space in Piran has changed from Prešeren to Tartini Square – we’ll be there to help you with parking. We kindly ask you to not enter the town before 10:30. If you’re early, grab a coffee or a snack nearby. ☕️
📝 Itinerary:
10:30–11:15 – Arrival and parking in Piran → Our cars will be parked at Tartini Square for the duration of the day. A member of our team will be present at all times to keep an eye on the vehicles and share stories with curious passersby about the brilliance of French automotive engineering – after all, we expect the cars to draw quite a bit of attention!
11:30–12:30 – Guided walking tour (in English) through Piran’s rich history and coastal charm
13:00–14:00 – Lunch with delicious local flavors
14:00–17:00 – Free time
17:00–17:15 – Regrouping at the designated meeting point
17:30 – Departure from Piran in convoy – be on time, as we’ll be leaving together!
*If you decide to leave early (not with us in the convoy), hold on to the ticket you receive on the ramp at the city entrance, since you will have to pay the parking fee. If you’re leaving in a convoy with us, the parking is free.
The afternoon is yours to enjoy! Whether you prefer wandering through Piran’s charming medieval streets, relaxing by the sea with a gelato, or going for a refreshing swim, this is your chance to experience the coast your way.
For those interested in something a bit more structured, Piran and Portorož offer a variety of bookable experiences. Many of these activities fill up quickly during summer, so we recommend booking in advance:

NOTRANJSKA DAY TRIP
📅 Date: Friday, 1 August 2025
🕘 Suggested Departure from Postojna: 9:45 AM
🗺️ Recommended Route:
The drive to Snežnik Castle is flexible – feel free to choose your own scenic approach! However, to ensure you don’t miss any highlights, we highly recommend the following route:

Please note that the suggested route to Snežnik Castle is not paved for the most part, so please consider this when choosing your route. The mobile signal is weak in some parts, so if you choose this route, make sure to download the map before departing.
📝 Itinerary:
11:30–11:45 – Gathering at the Snežnik Castle
12:00–13:00 – Guided tour of Snežnik Castle, one of the best-preserved castles in Slovenia
13:00–13:30 – Drive to Žerovnica
14:00–14:45 – Lunch at a local restaurant in the village
15:00–15:15 – Short drive to Cerknica
15:15–15:45 – Optional stop: by the intermittent Lake Cerknica to learn more about this natural phenomenon (the lake is currently dry, so we’ll only see the lake bed!)
15:45–16:00 – Drive to Rakov Škocjan, followed by a walk and exploration of its stunning karst formations
🧭 Estimated return to Postojna: Around 17:30–18:00 (flexible, depending on your pace)
